Leisure World's ocean side venue has amphitheatre seating.
Many people were allowed to wandered in and watch the rehearsal.
Shirley enjoyed the applause and joked with the crowd. It was practically a matinee.
Hear what else she had to say in this short video clip from July 20th (around 6 P.M.)
(Expect at least a few minutes for the first download)

One of my favorite photos from this concert.
Shirley's rehearsal was pleasant and problem free.
It was still light out as everyone practiced on stage .
That was fine except for the fact that Trish, Shirley's lighting engineer,
had no clue how powerful the spotlight would be when it got dark at show time.

Well, Shirley always looks fabulous.
She chose her most brilliant silver sequined
gown for this performance and simply dazzled the audience.

That's the Pat Boone staircase which leads to the audience.
This venue in Seal Beach, Ca. has a footbridge over the orchestra pit.
(For Shirley's show the musicians were on stage with her)
For a long time, performers could only go to the end of the wooden bridge.
Last year when Pat Boone was scheduled to entertain, he requested a stairway.
That's perfect for Shirley. During her musical number
"You Made Me Love You",

Shirley likes to walk right up and sing to the gentlemen seated in the first few rows.
